Why we built this

Bringing back the golden days of the good neighbor.

There was a time when a dozen eggs came from the family down the road, the tomatoes came over the fence in a paper sack, and the jam had a name written on the lid. Nobody needed an ingredient label, because you knew the person who made it.

Chicken Wire is our attempt to hand that back to people. Not a grocery aisle. Not a faceless marketplace. A neighborhood — where the person matters as much as the product.

Know your grower

Every listing has a real neighbor behind it, with a name, a neighborhood, and a track record. No mystery ingredients, no chemical guesswork — just ask the person who grew it.

Kindness over commerce

Sell it, trade it, or hand it over for a jar of honey. We keep the exchange flexible on purpose, because generosity is what makes a neighborhood feel like one.

Safe by design

Phone verification, public meetup spots, reviews, and reporting are built in from day one. Friendly only works when everyone also feels safe.

What we believe

  • Food tastes better when you can thank someone for it in person.
  • Small-batch and homegrown shouldn't be a luxury — it should be down the street.
  • A trade builds a relationship in a way a checkout never will.
  • Communities get safer when people actually know each other's names.
